Vivian Zhang and Nicolas Hui, International Sales Managers

Introducing Vivian and Nicolas, our new Sales Managers

6 september 2017

Since Rompa China is increasingly focusing on the development and production of finished goods, finding new customers and business opportunities has been given extra priority. Hence, we are welcoming two new members to the Rompa family: Vivian Zhang and Nicolas Hui, International Sales Managers. Who are they, what do they do and what do they expect from their new positions? We pose four questions to our brand new colleagues.

You were recently brought in to strengthen Rompa China’s sales team. What kind of work are you doing?
Vivian: “I am the link between China and the head office in the Netherlands. I have a lot of contact with our Chinese customers and other customers operating in China, and develop new business as well. My goal is to increase sales. I am in the same time zone as these customers, which makes it easy for me to visit them. And because I’ve made many business trips to Europe and America, I feel at home in both the Chinese and the Western market and culture.”
Nicolas: “At the moment, I am mainly focusing on exploring new business opportunities, particularly in the United States. Rompa is a relatively smaller player in the US, so we’re working with an external consultancy firm there, which has contacts in the market. From Hong Kong, I’ve been looking at new strategies with this company. In addition, I often work together with the project team in China. My experience as a project manager is well suited to this.”

What are your first impressions of Rompa?
Nicolas: “Before I started here, I had already met the management several times. Their boundless ambition to lift the company to a higher level – from just plastic to finished goods – made an immediate impression on me.”
Vivian: “I love the international aspect. Rompa China has Western management but it also includes Chinese influences. The relationship with customers is paramount. In the West, product quality and meeting deadlines are most important. Rompa combines the best of both worlds. Co-operation and discussions with international colleagues are part of daily life here. This enables us to bridge cultural differences and find the best way to keep our customers satisfied.”

You are both experienced Sales Managers. What else do you bring to the sales team?
Vivian: “I really enjoy looking for the cause and the solution. And I feel responsible for the factory and the customers.”
Nicolas: “I’m the type of person who can quickly adapt to change. As a Sales Manager, I think it’s important to be well prepared before sitting down with a customer. I do research into the customer’s background, get to know their business and find out what they consider important. In this way, we are able to offer our customers optimal service.”

Finally, what do both of you do when you’re not working?
Vivian: “Learning and discovering new things. I like traveling in Europe, Asia and America. I also spend a lot of time with my family.”
Nicolas: “I’m a film fanatic. It doesn’t matter about the genre; I watch all kinds of film. Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that I used to work as a Sales Manager for a television manufacturer. If I’m not sitting in front of a screen, I like to swim.”
